BRC Basic Rider Course Location: Bucksport & Belfast, Maine
The primary goal of the Basic RiderCourse is to provide an introduction to the fundamentals of safe, responsible motorcycling. This includes the knowledge and skills that lead to licensing and motorcycle operation on streets and highways.
This 15 hour course includes 5 hours of classroom time and 10 hours of riding. Students who successfully complete this course will be awarded a Maine motorcycle license endorsement by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The Basic RiderCourse is strongly recommended for new riders and those returning to motorcycling.

Training motorcycles and drinking water are provided for students.
Student Responsibilities:
To successfully complete the course students must score 80% or higher on the knowledge test and pass the riding skills evaluation given at the end of the course. As well, students must be present for the entire 15 hours of instruction.

Tuition for this 15 hour license-awarding course is $300 per student.
There is a strict limit of only 12 students per class.
Upon receipt of either entire fee or deposit of $150.00 (non refundable) you will be sent confirmation sheet with directions and what to bring with you and a waiver form. Please bring all these forms to class or mail them before hand.
Payment in full must be received prior to beginning of class on day 1.
All motorcycles are provided by the school to be used for training only.
Students must be at least 16 years old and must have parental permission; if under 18 years of age, proof of completed Drivers education course is required.
Students must be present the full 15 hours.
What You Need to Bring to Class
The classes at A and J Motorcycle Safety School, LLC are designed for adults. The training can be physically and emotionally demanding. It can be fast paced for some.
You are responsible to bring the following items to all classes.
- Long sleeve shirt and long pants. Jackets are ok, If warm weather or rain is anticipated, come prepared for either.
- Protective eyewear - Prescription glasses are fine as are sunglasses.
- Full finger gloves
- Sturdy footwear that covers you ankle are REQUIRED, no exceptions. Steel toed boots are NOT necessary.
- You provide you own motorcycle Helmet. We recommend full face helmets for beginning riders.
- Students are encouraged to bring a lunch and snacks on both days
- Students are encouraged to bring a pen, a highlighter, and note paper
We provide drinking water and snacks in classroom.
